Lyons Cove is a condomium on the water in Nokomis that is very close to Pop’s and just over the bridge from Nokomis Beach (Casey Key). I was lucky to be involved with a transaction in this community a few years ago, as there are only 16 units. They are two stories, no garages, and have a day dock and pool. There are 4 buildings with 4 units per building, built in the 70s you will find the residents have been creative when they update them. There are washer dryers for each unit, just out the front door in a separate keyed room. They did experience some storm surge in 2024 and people have been hard at work rejuvenating their first floor units. They rarely come up for sale, but if they do, you will find them here. As the crow flies I live closer to Siesta Key, than Nokomis, however, taking route 681 from 75, I can be at Nokomis Beach in under 20 minutes. It is my go to escape. Pop’s Sunset Bar and Grill is one of many places to grab a bite to eat and listen to live music. I like to sit at a table by the water to watch dolphins, manatees and boats go by. I am a fan of North Jetty Beach because of the constant activity with boats cruising into the inland waterway between Nokomis and Venice. That and the fact that you can always find shells on the beach. I love bringing our guests to this beach! Nokomis Beach which comes first as you go over the bridge is stunning and there is BEACH YOGA several days a week in the mornings. During the season you will find food truck events and art shows down at North Jetty with live music too. The neighborhood on the way over has a mix of 1960’s beach houses and newer larger homes because the waterfront lots are substantial, so some knocking down and rebuilding has been going on. If living so close to the water is not for you, there are golf communities like Calusa Lakes , Venetian Golf and River Club, and new lifestyle communities like Bellacina and Toscana Isles, where the pool and clubhouse are designed for resort style living. From here you are in downtown Venice in minutes. I can often be found at open houses in this area because it is one of my favorite places to be. Nokomis has great restaurants besides Pop’s like Pelican Alley, Captain Eddies and Nokomos Sunset Hut. There are typically art shows all season long right off Route 41 and fishing off the Jetty looks like a worthwhile thing to do.
