The Hamptons

OK, I am from Long Island, so when I think of the Hamptons…something different comes to mind.  The Hamptons in Palmer Ranch is more like a mediterranean/Florida neighborhood crosssed with the deep south.  The first thing you notice are the gaslit lampposts at every property. Lots of mature tropical landscaping and great curb appeal and sidewalks.  The entrance to the community pool has a New England style exterior, but once you are through the doors it is all Florida.  Covered spaces for lounging or lunching with ceiling fans facing a beautiful heated year round pool surrounded by tropical landscaping.  This community has three sections.  The West is behind huge iron gates, the North and the South are non-gated, but all have use of the community pool.  There is a parking lot next to it for those that wish to drive over.  The homes were built by Lennar in the 1990s and have a barrel tiled roofs.  Many back to ponds and some back to Culverhouse Nature Preserve.  Because there is no clubhouse or golf and the homeowners maintain their own properties, the HOA fees are relatively low for Palmer Ranch.  There are no pet restrictions other than that they be actual domestic pets, and not deemed a nuisance.  This community is just south of Clark Road off Honore and close to things like a new Publix,  The Legacy Trail and the golf courses of Stoneybrook and TPC Prestancia.  The closest beaches are Siesta Key and Nokomis.   There is a Costco in Palmer Ranch, a Lowes, plus Target is just on the outskirts on the Tamiami Trail.  The closest restaurants are Roesslers for fine dining, The Fresh Catch Market for great seafood, Napule for Italian, and The Red Plum, plus a couple of new sushi places in Gulf Gate that I have to investigate.
